Mark Scheme definition of a ‘judgement’ – a balanced, well reasoned, effective ANSWER TO THE QUESTION

1. Answer the question explicitly – start by restating the question and add your answer to it

2. Justify why you believe that is the right answer – weigh up your point and prioritise the arguments at the heart of the debate

3. Provide a balanced argument – justify your answers with details and consider various different factors / provide alternative policies if need be etc

4. Consider the short run and long run impacts – what may be beneficial in the short run may not be impactful in the long run, and vice versa
